Sales Policies
Sales Policies
(Most of our sale policies came from PixieBrookFarm Website.)
RIGHTS OF SELLER:
- Ivory Hill Farm requests first right of refusal on ALL goats we sell. That means that if in the future you decide to sell a registered animal that you bought from us, we request that you offer us the animal back before you offer to anyone else. You wont get any judgment from us! We appreciate the chance to bring back one of our goats. We may not always decide to purchase back, but who knows!
- We reserve the right to screen all potential homes. We can and will refuse a sale if we feel the goat is not going to a good home.
- We reserve the right to retain any kid(s) born on our farm. Inquiries do not constitute any sort of agreement for us to reserve a kid for the buyer.
- We reserve the right to sell our kids to the first potential buyer. That means that we don’t wait for people to make up their minds, or build a fence, or check with their spouse, or wait until next month’s payday, or you get the idea. It means the first person to schedule a time to meet us for pick-up, not the first person to inquire, gets the goat. If you have a reservation, and we contact you, you have 24 hours to decide to purchase, or we move onto the next person in line.
- We reserve the right to choose registration status. If we feel as though the goat is not breeding/performance stock, we will not sell with registration. We will wether all bucklings that don't go with registration.
- We do not guarantee perfect conformation on our goats. There is no such thing as a perfect goat. They all have their conformational faults. But we are open to be honest about the goats flaws so you can find the right goat for your herd!
HEALTH AND CARE PRIOR TO PURCHACE:
- All of our goats come from tested herds. We have not tested our herd yet. We will be in the up coming years though.
- Kids are not weaned till they are ready. If we feel as though the kid is not ready to be weaned, we will not wean until they are. Their immune systems develop from their mothers milk. We do not want to rush the process to sell the goat at its "cute stage"
- All goats have unlimited access to hay and minerals. We give our does and kids a homemade grain mix that consists of Beet shreads, COB, Purina protin pellets, grass pellets, sunflower seeds, rice pellets, split peas, and sometimes pumpkin seeds. This works for us and we encourage buyers to feed roughly the same mix. At time of purchase you will get a small bag of it to feed them for a few days.
- All kids are treated with coccidia prevention. We have had a few incidents with coccidia and refuse for it to happen again. We treat them for 16-20 days when they start eating grown-up food.
- ALL kids are disbudded at 10-15 days old. We refuse to sell a goat with horns. They can get stuck in a fence and hang themselves/die. So it is for the safety of the goat and even yours. You don't want to get stabbed with a horn.
- All kids are given CD&T and wormed before leaving. We do this routinely. If you want an unvaccinated goat, go somewhere else.
BUYER'S RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Have proper fencing and housing. Goats need good secure fencing and a place to get out of the wind and wet. They do fine in the cold if you do as their requirements are listed.
- Have more than one goat. Goats are herd animals and NEED a partner of their own species to be happy and healthy.
- Show up with proper transport. If we think transport will be to stressful we will refuse a sale (even if you drove a long ways to get here). Please, show up with PROPER transport. For example, a dog crate that does not allow the goat to be comfortable or lay down is NOT proper transport. A large dog crate that they can lay down in and be comfortable in is proper.
- Make arrangements for pickup. Someone who is willing to pickup their own goat will ALWAYS get moved ahead of someone who is not willing.
- Show up when scheduled to meet. If you do not show up when you scheduled to, your sale is void and we WILL NOT work with you in the future. (Nobody has time for that!)
- Bring cash. We will only take cash (green backs) no checks, PayPal, Venmo, etc. We will refuse the sale if you come with any of those listed things. Cash only means cash only. *for deposits, we accept Zelle*
- Be sure you want the goat. It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine if the sale is acceptable, so please make sure you really do want the goat. We don’t refund money because of buyer’s remorse. All sales should be considered final.
- We will have you sign a paper that says that the goat left our farm in good health. We have no guarantees for what happens in the buyers care. ( We do this because we have has incidents in the past with buyers)
